Solving Complex Lifts: LGH and ITI Showcase Modular Spreader Beam Solutions in Live Webinar
LGH, in partnership with Industrial Training International (ITI), recently hosted an in-depth educational webinar titled “Innovation and Complex Lifting Solutions with Modular Spreader Beams.” The session brought together industry experts to explore how advanced planning and modular spreader beam solutions can overcome some of today’s most challenging lifting scenarios.
The webinar featured two real-world case studies from different industries, highlighting how modular spreader beams supplied by LGH helped project teams exceed safety, schedule, and budget expectations. Speakers walked attendees through each phase of the lift—from pre-planning and engineering considerations to execution and final placement—offering valuable insights into decision-making under complex conditions.

Representing BMWC Constructors, John Manta and Justin Knapp discussed the challenges of setting two cooling towers inside an active refinery. The lift required precise coordination and careful load control, further complicated by nearby overhead power lines and limited working space. Through detailed planning and the use of modular spreader beams, the team was able to safely and efficiently complete the operation without disrupting ongoing refinery activities.
In a second case study, Chrissy Clausen and Pat Kleyweg of Clausen Structures shared their experience lifting and setting a six-span pedestrian bridge over a live highway. Similar to the refinery project, overhead power lines added complexity and required a lifting solution that offered both flexibility and control. Modular spreader beams allowed the team to manage load distribution and geometry while maintaining strict safety standards.
For those who were unable to attend the live event, the full webinar recording is available on demand. The session delivers practical takeaways from seasoned professionals and demonstrates how thoughtful planning, paired with the right lifting equipment, can successfully address even the most complex lift challenges.
